That’s why they call it “submission”

Imagine yourself trying to get a prom date. You ask three girls, all of them charming and desirable in their own ways. Imagine they all three say, not yes or no–but maybe, let me think about it. You spend the next 4–6 weeks on pins and needles contemplating the possibilities, hoping that one of them, any one of them, will like you enough to say yes.

Imagine that they reply, telling you how witty you are, or how quirky, or how strong. Or worse, how much potential you have. Imagine that they say some say nice things that you make believe you’re so hot, you be starring in a shaving commercial. But in the end, alas, they decline. Imagine they all say this all on the same day, one after the other in quick succession.

That was my Friday.

*Sigh*

Forward and upward, comprehension and knowledge.
