It's much faster than Wordpress, though it has a lot fewer options. And it is, as a whole, constantly generating content of its own--there are entire days where I'm only reblogging neat stuff I find, and not creating anything new myself!

That's what I've been using it for. It seems like a quick way to blog, which I have with Wordpress, so I'm sure it adds anything for me personally yet.

With all of the anti-government sentiment in AZ, I wonder why the same crowd isn't yelling about this form of government intrusion.

This is quite amazing and extremely scary. Why is Arizona becoming so backwards in their thinking especially when they have so many immigrants living there?

It's very depressing to read this and see how government gets involved where they shouldn't. I think we need to kick AZ out of the Union. :)

Mr. Gill,

Our Book Club is reading Soul Enchilada and I was wondering if you could Skype with us when we have our discussion session on February 15. I am the Library Media Specialist at Lake Nona High School in Orlando. We have 30+ students in the club, known as the Literary Lions.

Thanks for the consideration.

Kelly & Davis--

I wrote the first draft of Black Hole Sun (titled Hell's Cross then) in the summer of 2003 at Orson Scott Card's writers bootcamp and finished the novel in 2008. The Firefly comparison has been made before by fans (although I personally didn't see the TV show until after BHS was done), and I think it's because any teen growing up in the 70's enjoyed a resurgence of non-campy science fiction--Close Encounters, Star Wars, Alien, etc--along with the first wave of karate and samurai films. When I wrote Black Hole Sun, I was writing it for the 15 year old I was then, the kid who was inspired by the movies and wanted the same kind of genre-blending sf/horror/sword/western story in a book. If you want to trace the genealogy of all of these films and books, look at the work of director John Ford, whose artistic vision and out of the box story telling both defined and exploded genre conventions.

First, don't try to email that account, I can't answer it.
I've never heard of "Firefly",but I love your book, "Black Hole Sun". I've been getting into sci-fi quite a bit lately with Star Wars movies and lame scyfy channel cheesy movies (though I love them.) ,and your book has fit perfectly into my new mold of scifi culture that I seem to enjoy so much. Anyway, keep up the good work and make more scifi. (Maybe something with these new kepler planets.)

I'm a high school librarian and I just finished "Black Hole Sun". The characters and dialog in this books really , really reminded me of "Firefly", and that was before page 93.

Good story. I liked it. If Joss Whedon ever authorizes "real" Firefly novels, not just graphic novels, you'd be a shoo in.
