 The title of this picturebook explains precisely what happens in the book: a bug gets trapped in a vacuum and goes through the five stages of grief which, as the book tells us, is also known as the “Kubler-Ross model, introduced in 1969.” This model defines the “series of emotions commonly experiences when facing a life-changing event.” In this case, getting trapped in a vacuum.
I really adored this picturebook. I loved the illustrations, I loved the bug, and I love how something so silly could be so profound. The bug goes through denial, bargaining, anger, despair, and finally acceptance inside the vacuum.
